I just wanted to share this from across the water: my old 53 made it onto the front cover of Ministeri, the magazine for Mini Club Flying Finns.

Will we see any Swedes at a Finnish event next year?:cool:

As MINI drivers, we can attend both Mini Club Flying Finns and Bimmer Tuning Club Finland events (you'd have to join but the fees are like 25eur).

They're still working on the dates, but I can post them as they are announced.

It's either Ahvenisto (at Hameenlinna, 1 hour north of Helsinki) or Alastaro (sort of in between Turku, Tampere and Helsinki). Ahvenisto is great fun, lots of elevation, but it's narrow and cambered, and there's little run off. Alastaro is wide and flat, loads of run off, and much less scary.

Noel, so far we have the following dates:

18.05 Ahvenisto
08.06 Alastaro
10.08 Alastaro
25.08 Ahvenisto
+ TBC/September with the Mini Club Flying Finns, followed by sauna, makkara & Lonkero at mökki

As promised, an update on the Mini Club Flying Finns autumn track day/sauna night. This will take place on Saturday 14 September 2019 at Ahvenisto from 12-17 with an evening of sauna and Lonkero at a large summer house about 30 minutes away called Aulangon rantahuvila. If you're interested, please let me know, and we will help you make the local arrangements - you will need to book your own trip on Viking (or Silja) Line from Stockholm. Ahvenisto is about 1 hour north of Helsinki at Hameenlinna.

To the extent it helps entice you, I will do the BBQ (I have the mini-Weber coal grill in the back of the R53) and it'll be absolutely bloody fantastic. You might want to bring a case of Lonkero, as that would be welcome.

Oh yes! I have been looking forward to this. The track seems like a mini-nordschleife. I have a couple of meetings in Stockholm 11 september and should be in Åbo on the 12th. Any sightseeing to recommend?

This is a nice road to drive. It is whole day trip and should start early morning so you can finish it like afternoon.

And this is other race circuit near turku. About 80km drive. It seems to have frre driving friday 13.9 from 10:00-14:00. After that track is booked

Thank you for the tips. Always nice to have several to choose from. I like the free driving days you have in FInland. The only track wih free-driving in Sweden would be Gotland ring. The proprietor happens to be finnish.

I will be staying in Tavastehus before the meeting. I am really looking foreward to it. I have even bought new trackday tires, although mounted them on heavy stock rims. Keeping my fingers crossed for sunshine.

Yea, the 888s might not have been the fastest way around Ahvenisto this time. But I just know that If I hadn't brought them with me it would have been a dry track. Anyway, at least I had some threads in my tires. Tcbw, you can't have had much grip in the rain.

Again, many thanks for haveing me. I felt very well taken care of. Finnish hospitality is great. It certainly made me want to come back. Hopefully with more swedish MINIacs. As soon as I get a date for Ahvenisto 2020 I will make a write-up of this years meeting.

Before then I intend to drive Ahvenisto in the dry. I am slowly drawing up plans for a spring run. With the touristenfahrten thing you have in Finland both Alastaro and Ahvenisto should be within reach on the same trip.
